Cheerleading Now a UIL sport in Texas!

The Texas University Scholastic League (UIL) has approved a one year pilot program for game day cheer competition! Meaning cheer squads will compete for a state title like any other sport.  This is big in the cheer world in Texas and I am excited about the recognition and the opportunity to it will give these kids.  Cheerleaders are more than just girls in bows and short skirts.  They are athletes, who work as hard on their sport as any other sports team.  I do have questions though and can't wait to see what guidelines they put in place.   The competition will start the 2015-16 school year.

CHEERS!  And welcome to my newest blog!  I have been a cheer coach for 12 years! It's hard year after year to come up with new and creative ideas.   My goal for this blog is to help other cheer coaches with new ideas for spirit days, pep rallies, homecoming, game time, cheers and chants, practices, team building and anything else cheer related!  I hope you find this very helpful.  Feel free to steal any idea you find.  Just be sure to let everyone know where your awesome idea came from.  :)  If you have any great ideas, please share!  I'm always looking for something new to do and tryout.
